Fairleigh Dickinson Softball Splits with Wagner
Kotrosits gets second win of season, Potter hits fourth home run

STATEN ISLAND, NY The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team (6-11, 4-8 NEC) split two conference games at Wagner (14-26, 2-10 NEC), winning the opener 3-2 before falling in game two, 4-3.

The Seahawks scored two in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead over the Knights. Kara Morris (Fr., OF, Mahwah, NJ) hit a double in the fourth and the next at bat Jessi Potter (Fr., 3B, Oneonta, NY) doubled her in to cut the lead to 2-1. FDU scored two more in the top of the sixth as Potter ripped her team-leading fourth home run of the season to score Kim Farhat (Fr., SS, Paramus, NJ) and to take a 3-2 eventual win.  Marlise Kotrosits (Fr., RHP, Whitehall, PA) allowed just four hits in 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, both unearned.  She fanned one batter and walked two in her second win of the season.  Nicole Farrissey (Fr., RHP, Paramus, NJ) gets her first win of the season after disabling the Seahawk offense to end the seventh inning. Krystle Petty moved to 4-13 on the season for Wagner, striking out four in a full seven innings.

FDU struck quickly in game two.  With Morris, Potter, and Serena Larsen (Soph., C, Palisades Park, NJ) on base, Courtney Rejent (Fr., 1B, Paramus, NJ) hit a 2 RBI single to down the left field line.  After getting two more hits the side retired with the bases loaded.  The Seahawks scored one in each of the second and the third to tie the game at 2-2 before a two-run fourth inning for Wagner gave them a 4-2 advantage.

Potter singled to start off the fifth inning and Larsen bunted her over to second. Rejent singled to move Potter to third and Anneliese Padilla (Fr., LF, West Linn, OR) singled her home for the Knights' third run of the game.  Although the Knights finished game two with 10 hits, they fell to the Seahawks 4-3 for the split.

Farrissey takes the loss for the Knights, working three and two-thirds innings of relief giving up two runs. Katie Refsnyder went the distance for the Seahawks, striking out three and walking one.

FDU's Potter finished the day 3-of-7 to extend her hit streak to a season-high eight games, adding three RBI and three runs scored. Rejent also finished 3-of-7 with two RBI.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, April 10th when they travel to Sacred Heart for a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
