Fairleigh Dickinson Women's Tennis Defeats Robert Morris, 4-3
Knights win fall opener.

TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's tennis team opened up its 2001 campaign with a 4-3 win over visiting Robert Morris this afternoon.  The Knights took three singles matches and added the doubles point to earn the victory over the Colonials, a team that finished second at last year's NEC Championships.

Junior Marisa Puga (Chihuahua, Mexico) and senior Elina Magid (Philadelphia, Pa.) teamed up for a win at first doubles.  The duo led 3-0 when Robert Morris was forced to retire due to injury.  Magid ran away with her match at number two singles, 6-0, 6-1, and Puga earned the first singles point by default.  Graduate student Maria Leonida (Garfield, N.J.) sealed the win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at number three singles.

The Knights return to action on September 26, when they travel to Monmouth for a 3:30 p.m. match.

Elina Magid and the Knights defeated Robert Morris in their home opener on September 23.
