This week Lise's first guest will be the amazing Andrea Marcovicci!
Andrea Marcovicci “torch singer, spellbinder, heart-breaker” (People) was hailed as the “most Sinatra-like” of the new generation of cabaret performers by Life Magazine. She “has the capacity to caress a song with a warming embrace…Marcovicci steals the heart …the epitome of elegance and showbiz savvy,” declared Variety while Stephen Holden wrote in The New York Times, “Andrea Marcovicci has an incandescent enthusiasm and a masterly balance between poignancy and wit”.

Lise's second guest will be Jeff Campbell. Jeff is the founder of the non-profit organization Hungry for Music. We will also be giving away Hungry for Music Diamond Cuts CDs of baseball songs, Hungry for Music T-shirts etc.
Hungry For Music is a grassroots volunteer-driven charity organization with a nationwide and international outreach. Hungry for Music's mission is to inspire underprivileged children (and others) by bringing positive musical and creative experiences into their lives. Hungry for Music has brought the healing quality of music to thousands of people through its musical instrument donations, concerts, and workshops. They support their programs through memberships, benefit concerts and events, raffles, and the sale of Hungry for Music produced compact discs.

Dianne Reeves |
On December 14 th , Lise will be talking to jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves and giving listeners a chance to win tickets to see Dianne live.
Recognized as one of jazz's pre-eminent vocalists, Grammy winner Dianne Reeves is one of the most significant singers in jazz. While her singing is steeped in tradition, her rhythmic virtuosity and improvisational ease are breathtaking.
Reeves has won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for each of her last three recordings: A Little Moonlight in 2003, The Calling in 2001 and In The Moment-Live in Concert in 2000. In fact, Reeves is the only recording artist in any singing category to have accomplished such a feat three records in a row. In 2006, Dianne Reeves went on to yet again garner the award for a fourth record-breaking time for best jazz vocal album for her soundtrack to the film Good Night, and Good Luck. |

Bob McGrath |
Also on December 14 th, Lise welcomes Sesame Street's Bob McGrath to the WFDU-FM studios. Bob McGrath originated the character of Bob and Bob has been a core part of the Sesame Street family since the show's inception, and he was one of the first four original human cast members. A great favorite with everyone he meets, Bob is always ready to sing, tell stories, give music lessons, explain something to Big Bird, and even dress up as a bumblebee.
Music has always been a big part of Bob McGrath's life, and he often performs in concerts and makes public appearances. McGrath has recorded numerous CDs and sing-alongs, and has performed in thousands of children's concerts, encouraging his young fans to explore the world of music.
McGrath is a committed advocate for children, and has participated in telethons and other fundraising events for more than 30 years. In 2002, he was inducted into the Silver Circle of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is the recipient of the National Music Council's American Eagle Award, the National Association of Music Educators' Fame Award for furthering the cause of music education, and the 2006 Saskatchewan Centennial Award. McGrath has chaired National UNICEF Day and has hosted World Children's Day at the United Nations. He has also served as host and artistic director for the International Children's Festival at Wolf Trap for more than 15 years. |
