Biography

Keepin’ it real for Jesus!!!

I was born and raised in Newark, NJ and have been in the music business for over 15 years as both a DJ and MC.  In the eighties I was into the club scene at places like Zanzibar, Magoos, the Tunnel, the Palladium and the Paradise Garage.  For my first venture in the business, I started out carrying records for my good friend DJ Curt Gilmore at a weekly after work party at a place called Rueben’s in Newark.  I then joined him in the mobile DJ business and learned to DJ while working as an MC with Curt and DJ’s Will Gibbs, Charles Gatling, Sharif Foster and Naim Johnson.  I have played at more weddings, birthday parties and celebrations than I can remember.

I have been a member of St. James AME church in Newark, NJ since I was 13 but my life changed when I was saved and accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior in 1998 under Rev Dr William D Watley.

God has truly changed my life and he changed my music shortly after I was saved.  My Youth Ministry had a vision to start having Youth church services.  We held services in St James prep school located behind the church.  Since I had a sound system I provided the music and started my journey as a Gospel DJ.  One of the parents at the church recommended me for the job at Branch Brook Park Roller Skating when they decided to go in a different direction with their Gospel night.  I have been there ever since and I took on the name one of the kids gave me D- REAL (Thanks Chaz!).

I have been blessed with many opportunities as a Gospel DJ.  I have DJ’d for Club Praize, the North Jersey AME YPD (Young Peoples Division) conference and picnic just to name a few.

1st Corinthians Chapter verse 22-23 states……’I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.  I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.’

For me this describes Gospel Music many forms: Gospel Rap, R&P (Rhythm and praise), Contemporary, Traditional and Club.  All for one purpose to help build the kingdom!  I pray that you enjoy my Ministry and a seed is planted.  It’s all about Jesus!!!!
