Located in the fabled "Gold Coast" country of Long Island's north shore,
Nike battery NY-23 was yet another typical Nike Ajax missile battery
containing three underground missile storage magazines. The site
remained in active service for eight years, until its closure during
1963.

Present Status
The former Launcher Area on Brookville Road is a town park. Nassau
County operates an environmental education center at the site. The
Missile Assembly and Test Building is now utilized for meetings.
The former Control Area, located on high ground to the west of Cedar Swamp
Road was recently demolished for residential development.
