Located in the fabled "Gold Coast" country of Long Island's north shore, Nike battery NY-23 was yet another typical Nike Ajax missile battery containing three underground missile storage magazines. The site remained in active service for eight years, until its closure during 1963.

The former Control Area, located on high ground to the west of Cedar Swamp Road was recently demolished for residential development.
