Play Paper Submission Process:

After you write your Play Paper, you must submit a full copy to the Digital Drop Box. You must also submit a shortened version to the Discussion Board. The short version should -
  • be a paragraph or so
  • include your general opinion of the play
  • would you recommend it or not
  • a general description of the play
This will be submitted to "The Play's the Thing" discussion board thread. In this way, we will all be able to share the experience.

Consult the Manual for instructions on the use of the Digital Drop Box. I understand from other professors that this is not easy for everyone. I have included instructions for submitting a paper to the Digital Drop Box written by Chris Devine - professor of Chemistry. If you can't figure out how to use the Digital Drop Box, let me know in the Student's Questions forum.

Some people seem to be having trouble with the Digital Drop Box. Here is the procedure: Step 1--Compose your submission using your word processing program (e.g. Microsoft Word), spell check and grammar check your work, and then save your submission as a file on your hard drive (preferably as an html file not as a text file). Step 2--Using the panel on the left of the course screen (Tools) find your way into the Digital Drop Box and click on "Send File" (NOT "Add File," the Add File option would only be useful if you wanted to temporarily add an incomplete file to the Drop Box that you would work on again later before sending; you most likely will not use this option). Step 3--Once the "Send File" page appears, you first select the recipient of your file in Area 1 ("Select Users"); your recipient can be anyone on the list; if it is to be your instructor, select "Instructor, FDU" as the recipient. Step 4--Ignore the "Select File" box (this is only used if you want to send a file that's already in the Drop Box. Step 5--Place the title of your assignment in the appropriate box in Area 2 ("File Information"). Step 6-- Use the "Browse" command to find the file on the hard drive of your computer; once you have found it, open it, and it should appear in the file window in Area 2. Step 7--Ignore the "Comments" box and click on "Submit" in the lower right of the "Send File" page. Once you have clicked on "Submit," in a few seconds your file should appear at the top of the Digital Drop Box on the Instructor's version of the course. When I look at your file, I have the option of sending it back to you with my comments; this is why all the course members appear in Area 1 as possible recipients, why a "Select File" option appears in Area 2, and why a comments box appears in Area 2 of the "Send File" page. I will be returning some assignments with comments shortly. A couple more points: (1) you should not compose your contribution in the "Comments" box: the idea is for you to send me a file you have already written that I can return with comments; and (2) if your file is a Word text file instead of an html file, I have to first save it on my computer and then read it using my word processer; if it is send in html, however, I get to read it directly.
