Buildings
"Today we spend untold millions for monumental buildings for students.
Does it make the educational process any more vital? Do the grandiose
buildings make the students any happier? In some cases they're blowing
them up. Bigness and sumptuousness do not make better education. The best
classroom is no classroom at all; the happiest classroom I have taught in
was out on the green grass with the blue skies and the sun overhead. A
classroom is a mechanical convenience to shield the students from the elements."
