Words
of Wit and Humor from the FounderDr. Peter Sammartino and his wife Sally (Scaramelli) are regarded rightly
as the founders of Fairleigh Dickinson University. They worked together
so closely that he said that they almost had a telepathic connection. On
one occasion, in the midst of an extemporaneous speech, and without warning,
Dr. Sammartino stopped: he explained that Sally knew their work so well
that she could finish his speech. He sat down, and with no further prompting,
his wife arose and completed the address.
The following are among topics covered in Dr. Sammartino's book Of Castles
and Colleges (1972) and other sources as noted. Some of his comments
are dated, but most of them are strikingly relevant today.
