What I like and do in my spare time....

I spend a lot of time on the BBS that I run. It's called Prism and based on the Citadel code. You can telnet to it if you wish. A page about the BBS is under construction and is available here in it's current form. I spend a lot of time watching TV. Too much time, probably. I won't waste your time providing links to places you already know about. I just wanted to add more information to this page so that it doesn't look totally empty.

My father, brother, neighbor and myself used to play a lot of Pinochle. Times have changed, though and now I've been relegated to playing it on my computer. There are two PC-based versions that I like. The first is for MS-Windows and the second is for DOS, but I can't find the DOS version right now. If you're interested in how to play Pinochle or any of a slew of other card games, check out John McLeod's Card Game pages The current card game that gets played at gatherings, if any, is one called International Rummy. I'm not sure if it's known under any other names, and I've never seen anything similar. It's good for a group of people because you play with two or three 54-card decks (thus accomodating more than just 3 or 4 players) and it's not too hard. If you're interested in seeing how to play, here are the instructions.

Fish! I've got those, too.

January '97: I have three fish right now. It used to be 4, and I thought it was going to remain a stable set of 4, too, but one of them, Smoke, got sick and died a few months ago. So for now I'm living with Fire, Sleepy, and OJ. I've only been doing this for two years, so I'm no great expert. If you're looking for some advice, you'd do well to check this FAQ.

July: OJ died. :(  I think he might have starved. You see, Fire is an older and larger fish, and he typically always eats a large portion of the food each day. OJ was smaller and also "shy" so he never seemed to get as much. More recently, it seemed like I was overfeeding the fish (in my attempt to provide enough food for the smaller fish.) So I cut back on the food, and also put some lettuce in a couple of days instead of the regular food. After a few days OJ wasn't looking too well and about 1 day later he was dead.  Sleepy seems to be OK, but since he's a Cory Catfish, he might be finding more of the food that OJ might not have seen.  I think I'm going to see about getting a pair of fish as a replacement.  Two fish is too few to have, and I think adding fish that prefer being in pairs might be a good thing to try right now.
