Thinking about Law?
FDU's Prelaw and Legal Studies
program provides early exposure to legal issues which can help you decide
if law is for you. Our students have attended a wide range of law schools,
including Ivy League schools, and have gone on to work in large and small
law firms, to serve as judges, to work in public interest organizations,
and at all levels of government.
Even if you decide not
to go to law school, the writing, research, and analytic training you receive
in our program will serve you will in the professional world or graduate
school

Outstanding faculty
Our faculty
are skillful and engaging teachers, widely published scholars, and effective
guides through the labyrinth of the law.

A Wide array of law related courses
We offer classes
in constitutional law, jurisprudence (the philosophy of law), criminal
justice, legal history, federal procedure, campaign and election law and
many others.

Small classes
Introductory classes limited to
35 (average 25) and upper-level classes enroll 10-15 students

A Prelaw Minor
Our minor
emphasizes a variety of skills and areas of study and is excellent training
for numerous careers.

Independent legal research projects
Faculty regularly collaborate with
students on research projects; this is a great advantage when applying
for admission to the most competitive graduate programs.

The Practicum
In the practicum
program students receive class credit for working in various professional
offices including those of federal and state elected officials, law enforcement
departments, law offices, courthouses, and government agencies. This experience
is great for your professional development.
