MADISON CAMPUS FACULTY
BYLAWS
Approved by unanimous vote of the Madison Campus Faculty at a meeting on
Wednesday, May 10, 1995
NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Madison Campus Faculty.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Campus Faculty is to provide a forum to discuss
issues of concern for the Faculty. The Campus Faculty shall also provide a
direct channel of communication between the Campus Executive and central
administration on the one hand and the Madison Campus Faculty on the
other.
MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Campus Faculty shall consist of the full-time
members of the FDU faculty of Becton College of Arts and Sciences and
those full-time faculty of the College of Business Administration whose
primary appointment is at the Madison Campus.
OFFICERS
The Faculty Speaker or, in his or her absence, the Vice Speaker shall
chair meetings of the Campus Faculty and of the Campus Faculty Executive
Committee.
At the end of his or her term, the Speaker shall be replaced by the
Vice Speaker and a new Vice Speaker shall be elected from the full-time
faculty in a Madison Campus-wide election from nominations made at a
meeting of the Campus Faculty.
The Faculty Speaker and Vice Speaker shall serve two-year terms
beginning in the fall semester of odd-numbered years.
The Vice Speaker shall be elected from the full-time faculty of the
college other than that of the Speaker. Thus, the speakership will
alternate between the two colleges.
When necessary, the Faculty Speaker and Vice Speaker shall be elected
from the full-time faculty in a Madison Campus-wide election from
nominations made at a meeting of the Campus Faculty.
CAMPUS FACULTY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Campus Faculty Executive Committee shall consist of the Faculty
Speaker, the Vice Speaker, and the chairpersons of the standing
committees.
The purposes of the Executive Committee shall be: to prepare the
agendas for meetings of the Campus Faculty; to identify and be responsive
to concerns of the Campus Faculty and other Campus constituencies; and to
bring those concerns to meetings of the Campus Faculty. In addition, the
Executive Committee may bring immediate concerns and issues directly to
the attention of the Campus Executive.
STANDING COMMITTEES
There shall be four Campus Faculty standing committees: Buildings and
Grounds, Library Services, Student Affairs, and Academic Affairs. These
committees may work with the appropriate administrator on areas of concern
and shall report to the Campus Faculty. Each standing committee shall
elect its own chairperson.
MEETINGS
The Faculty Speaker shall call at least one meeting of the Campus
Faculty each semester. Additional meetings may be called by the Speaker in
consultation with the Executive Committee.
Agenda items for meetings of the Campus Faculty may be submitted to
members of the Executive Committee by any member of the Madison Campus
Faculty.
Resolutions of the Campus Faculty shall be transmitted to the Campus
Executive or to the appropriate administrator or official.
