You
can always email me & I usually get back within 24 hours.
You can give me your homework
(1) in class,
(2) have someone else give it to me in
class,
(3) email it to me,
(4) fax it to me,
(5) drop it off in my office, my mailbox
or with the Core Secretary Theresa.

Plus – In Policy
Many
times students come to me asking to be added into a class
of mine that is already full. We place caps on these
courses because
putting too many people into a class that should provide
the students
with the opportunity to discuss the material
reduces the value of the class
for everyone and requires more effort from the
instructor. At a minimum I
have more papers and exams to grade, and more journals
to read, etc.
Often
students tell me that they need this course to graduate and can
only take it at the time that my class is
offered.
Since
you are asking more of me, it seems only fair that I tell you
what I expect from a plus-in. I expect you to be
in virtually every class.
Virtually
always prepared, having read everything assigned, and brought
it to class to refer to. Expect me to call on you to verify
that regularly. I
would make these same claims of all of the
students who register for my
class but they do not have to get my permission to
register. Plus-ins do
need my permission.
So,
this is the deal. You want me to plus you in. Ok, as long as there
are not already plus-ins. But be very well
prepared. If that is okay with you,
then please sign up with me. Let’s understand
each other. If you do not
live up to these requirements, you will fail this
course.
And I am sure that will not help you
graduate.

The Puzzler
Crossing the River: A group of people have to
cross a river on a ferry. There are a Mother
and two daughters, a Dad and two sons, a Police Person and a Criminal in
custody. The
following restrictions exist:
1) only two people can be on the ferry at a time,
2) only the Mother, the Dad or the Police Person can pilot the ferry, so one of
them must be
on the ferry whenever it transfers anyone over or back across the river,
3) the Mother can not be left with either one or both
of the Sons unless the Dad is present,
4) the Dad can not be left with either one or both of
the Daughters unless the Mother is present,
5) the Criminal can not be left with anyone else
unless the Police Person is present,
6) the ferry may be used as often as desired and individuals may cross and
re-cross the river
many times.
What is a successful sequence of movements to get everyone across the river.
You may want to use the following internet site which will allow you to try
various combinations
of moves, although not in English. The start area is in the lower right hand
corner.
