Some Advice on Succeeding in my Class:

[1] Attend all of the classes.

[2] If you must miss a class, get the notes from someone in the class who
seems to know what they are doing.

[3] Attempt all of the assignments. (Give them each an honest effort. When
you try and don’t “get it” you are primed to be receptive when, in class, you
see how someone else “got it.” If the material is such that you don’t “get it”
easily and you haven’t even attempted it, then when you see someone else’s
answer there is a high likelihood that you still won’t “get it.”)

[4] Figure out how much time it takes you to read 10 pages of different
kinds of material, e.g., texts, novels, essays, etc. Schedule enough time so
that you can reasonably expect to accomplish all that you need to do. This
means to actively put into your schedule, or, possibly, take out of your
schedule the time you need.

[5] Before you start an assignment re-read the specifics so that you are
actually trying to do what I requested. Once you complete an assignment,
read the assignment yet again to be sure that you did the right thing. If you
haven’t really done that, fix it before you turn it in.
