Manager (Taxes and Partnership Accounting) International Law Firm
THE ORGANIZATION:Our
client, one of the world’s largest law firms with over 1,700 attorneys
and
offices in 21 countries, is headquartered in RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Treasurer of the firm, the Tax Manager will potentially function as the “number two” person responsible for managing the firm’s domestic tax planning and compliance function. He/she will be responsible for the following: · Managing tax research, planning and compliance to ensure that all foreign, federal, state, local and payroll guidelines are met. · Functioning as liaison with outside public accounting outsourcing tax team and reviewing federal, state and local tax returns. · Coordinating with the partner accounting team in maintaining partner’s capital accounts · Managing quarterly information reporting of the firm’s results to the partners and their accountants. · Managing finances and preparing annual budget for department; participating in professional development/training of members of the department; planning, designing and implementing departmental enhancements. QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be a CPA with a minimum of six years of tax experience, including four to six years spent with a public accounting firm. He/she should have a working knowledge of federal, state and local tax law and compliance software, as well as a general awareness of foreign tax issues. Experience in a professional services environment with exposure to partnership accounting would be highly desirable, however an individual who is currently with a public accounting firm would also be considered. By personal style and temperament, candidate should enjoy working/contributing to a team environment. He/she should exhibit outstanding leadership, communication and managerial skills, should show excellent judgement/discretion, be skilled at troubleshooting, and capable of establishing participatory working relationships with clients, attorneys and staff.
